Successful test leads to eco-eclipse installation rollout for Sanctuary Care
Background:
Sanctuary Group, a charitable organisation, is a successful housing provider, managing 70,000 homes throughout England and Scotland. In 1995, the Group formed Sanctuary Care which was set up to provide older people with high quality nursing and residential care. Sanctuary Care tested the eco-eclipse at Hawthorne Green in London and Chadwell House in Essex. Both are modern, purpose-built homes, Hawthorne Green with 90 rooms and Chadwell House with 60. Results:
The eco-eclipse provided a saving of 35.5% at Chadwell House and 33% at the Hawthorne Green home. As a result, Sanctuary Care has entered into a programme to install the systems into 33 more homes, making a total of 35 homes. The programme was completed in mid-April 2009. It is calculated the system will save Sanctuary over £150,000 per annum and reduce CO2 emissions by nearly 1,000 tonnes per annum. “During the tests that E&ES conducted, we saw considerable savings on our heating bill and therefore we have rolled out this installation into other suitable homes.
