Charity benefits from superior energy saving installation Brendoncare Foundation
Background:
Brendoncare is a registered charity, dedicated to improving the quality of life for older people. There are nine care centres across the south, each with its own individuality; eight of the properties are residential care homes and nursing homes for frail older people, and the ninth is the first ever total care living complex, Brendoncare Knightwood. Brendoncare identified that most of their energy consumption was being used in heating and hot water, and naturally, the unpredictable temperatures in the UK mean that they are heated even in the summer months. Energy & Environmental Systems Ltd carried out a trial of the eco-eclipse boiler energy management system at Froxfield near Hungerford. This site was chosen because it is fuelled by LPG and expensive to run. Results:
After a 28 day ‘day on / day off’ test, savings were an incredible 32.5%, and with no detrimental effects on the internal temperature at the home. Brendoncare are now looking at installing into the rest of the properties suitable for this system. “These savings will now allow us to re-invest in making our clients’ stay with us much more comfortable and enjoyable, as well as doing our bit for society in reducing our Carbon Footprint.” Peter Morris, Facilities Manager, Brendoncare
